Sharing my research:

How we can combine photography and social work

I'm transitioning careers later in life, and had to decide: pursue photography, or social work? Here I decided: both.

Photography has many implications for social work, and has been written about...and yet it is constantly identified as an under-utilized tool or strategy.

I created a concept map of all the known uses of photography in social work with the goal of providing practicing social workers ideas for how they may combine photography into their work. I also focused on how to avoid expensive technology, which is actually the norm!

This project is currently in development.

Developments to come in the future:

  1. Free downloadable PDF slide deck of findings from the research (expected: January 2027)

  2. Free analysis paper on the concept map.

  3. Ongoing trainings for social service agencies on how to combine photography with social work practices.

I am providing free webinars exploring the concept map and all the ways we can combine photography and social work. 4 time slots across 2 different dates, register for one today.

Purchase the actual concept map with the 100+ use cases for combining photography with social work. Includes reference list if you want to follow up on any articles.
